It was a real stroke of luck that we spotted the crested tits during our walk through Tannermoor. Not far from the official path, inside a dead tree trunk, was the nesting cavity. On our first visit, the partner was still being fed.
It soon became clear that I wanted to come back, but this time with a telephoto lens and a ‘fast’ camera. The birds are incredibly nimble. Fortunately, when flying towards the nesting hole, they always use the same branches as stop-offs.
The baby birds have now hatched and the parents are busily feeding them, as you can see from their full beaks.
Just watching these lovely birds is an exciting experience in itself. Enjoy looking at the pictures.
